What can I use for shower walls?

Traditionally, ceramic tiles have been the material of choice for waterproofing shower walls and cubicles, but these days, shower panels are an increasingly popular choice for these areas in our homes. This is because they offer all of the waterproofing and aesthetic properties of tiles, but without the disadvantages.

Are shower wall panels better than tiles?

Yes, we think so, and here’s why:

  • Speed of Installation

Bathroom wall panels from Multipanel out perform tiles for a number of reasons, one of which is because of the speed and ease of fitting. Typically, shower panels can be installed in a third of the time it takes to tile an equivalent area, and panelled walls are ready to use within 24 hours. With no need for grout, there is no need to wait on specialist trades to carry out the work either.

  • No Grout Required

Another advantage of bathroom panels is that they have no grout lines which means that the emergence of mould is completely eradicated, making ongoing care and cleaning simple - a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is all that it takes to keep them in pristine condition.

  • Can be installed over tiles

With Multipanel, there’s no need to worry if your walls are not in perfect condition, or if you are faced with the challenge of removing existing tiles. That’s because you can fit Multipanel shower panels directly on top of almost any surface, including tiles. And if your walls aren’t truly straight, our unique tongue and groove panel joining system, Hydrolock ® from Multipanel will tolerate up to a 6mm bow, enabling you to still achieve a perfectly flush finish between interlocking panels.

  • Tongue and Groove Installation

Hydrolock®, a feature of the Tile, Pure, Linda Barker, Contemporary and Classic Collections of shower panels allows you to click panels together for an almost invisible but completely watertight joint – great for creating the illusion of an almost ‘seamless’ wall surface.

Shower panels in the above Collections faithfully replicate the look of natural surfaces such as stone, marble and fossilised timber, as well as other materials such as woven fabrics, steel and concrete.

With the Multipanel’s range of shower panels you can achieve an authentic look of high-end bathrooms on a lower budget and without the grout.
