What is tongue and groove panelling?

Tongue and groove is a long-established method of fitting similar objects together, edge to edge. Traditionally used with wood for such things as bathroom flooring and wall panels, tongue and groove joints allow two flat pieces to be joined snuggly together to make a single flat surface.

Clever design and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques have enabled us to take the tongue and groove concept a step further resulting in our unique Hydrolock® joint which has been incorporated into the beautiful waterproof wall panels in our Tile, Pure, Linda Barker, Contemporary and Classic Collections, giving you have enormous scope to replicate the look and feel of massive slabs of stone, wood or marble.

How do you fit tongue and groove panelling?

Multipanel Hydrolock® tongue and groove waterproof wall panels are super-easy to install and can be fitted directly on top of existing tiles, stud walls, wood or concrete and can be ready for use in just 24 hours.

When joining together bathroom wall panels with a Hydrolock® joint, there is no requirement to have mid-joints or profiles which can catch the eye and distract from the beautiful designs. Instead, you will have a fabulous uninterrupted and completely waterproof stretch of the most gorgeous wall surface – think Calacatta Marble or Concrete Formwood.

My walls aren’t straight – can I fit tongue and groove shower panels?

For those of us who don’t have the luxury of perfectly straight, evenly plastered walls in our homes, our waterproof wall panels can come to the rescue. Bathroom wall panels with our Hydrolock® tongue and groove system will tolerate a bow of up to a 6mm on walls and still achieve a perfectly flush finish between interlocking panels (fitting wall panels to uneven walls).

Designed with ease of installation in mind, (and unlike tiles) you won’t need specialist trades to fit Hydrolock® panels. Simply fit the grooved edge first and the tongued edge of the next/adjoining panel is then angled in with the tongued edge pushed back until it clicks into place (all joints must be sealed with an appropriate sealant). The precisely engineered Hydrolock® edge detail creates a discreet and watertight joint.
