Making a Sustainable Choice for the Future

Established in 1970, Earth Day aims to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide to achieve transformational change. Companies partaking in Earth Day believe that there is no longer a choice between profits and sustainability and have implemented systems and processes to contribute to a healthier economy overall.

In a bid to promote sustainable specification and ensure Net Zero is delivered, Multipanel has created a rolling programme of environmental and sustainable initiatives. We recognise our responsibility to protect the natural environment—find out what this means in detail for our sustainable bathroom wall panels.

1. Multipanel is FSC®-certified

Having secured FSC® certification [FSC 128180] across our Tile, Pure, Linda Barker, Contemporary and Classic collections, we pride ourselves on using materials from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources. Our wall panels are made from sustainable, FSC®-certified Exterior Grade MDF and 100% recyclable. Since these panels are not manufactured using PVC, they have a low environmental impact, ensuring a minimal carbon footprint.

2. 30-Year Warranty

Multipanel’s bathroom wall panels hold an impressive 30-year warranty, delivering superior quality and durability. Our wall panels will not crack, blister, or delaminate and will remain watertight when fitted and sealed in accordance with our installation guide. This means they do not need to be replaced as often as traditional wall coverings and are made to withstand the test of time.

3. Sustainable Workspaces

Multipanel is not only committed to delivering environmentally conscious products but also to creating more environmentally friendly business practices. Our Head Office is equipped with 190 electrical solar panels on its roof, which source approx. 40,000 kWh per year.

To support Edinburgh’s LEZ (low emission zones) we have Rolec electric car charging points in our car park. We are also implementing an electric and hybrid company car policy across our field team, helping to reduce our carbon footprint as they travel across the UK. Office staff additionally benefit from our cycle to work scheme, which encourages employees to consider alternative options for their daily commute.

In the office and factory, we separate recyclable waste such as paper, cans and plastic from other areas to further reduce our impact on the environment.

4. Waste Reduction

The materials used in our bathroom wall panels are sourced from within the UK (or our neighbour, the Republic of Ireland) and we recycle 99% of our post-production waste into biomass fuel and other products. This decreases the energy needed in transportation while reducing waste sent to landfills and contributing to the circular economy.
