Bathroom Development
In this recent development, Bron Afon created 30 wet rooms and an assisted bathing room within a domiciliary care setting. Key factors in choosing a product for their bathroom walls were:
- The product needs to be clean and hygienic for an environment where infection control is a priority
- Low maintenance, durable and hard wearing
Multipanel bathroom wall panels hit every requirement for Bron Afon. They emphasised that the products were "low maintenance, easy to clean, hygienic, aesthetically pleasing and durable."
Assisted Living Needs and Requirements
Bron Afon had to overcome a number of key challenges when building a facility dedicated to assisted living. The main challenge was ensuring that the rooms were a clean and hygienic environment, as infection control is of great importance in assisted care.
Since installing Multipanel in their bathrooms:
"No repairs have been needed, they have worn well with use. They have kept their appearance as they still look new and are proving effective with cleaning and minimising cross infection / contamination" - Building Manager at Bron Afon
Multipanel Products Used
The two décors chosen for this project were:
- Classic White Snow Hydrolock in 2400mm X 1200mm (3308 FSC MIX 87%)
- Heritage Alabaster Oak (8854 FSC MIX 87%) Hydrolock in 2400mm X 1200mm (now discontinued)
These decors were chosen to assist the users with diminished vision. Visual assistance for these users was achieved by providing a 30-point difference in light reflective variance between the wet and dry areas of the room.
Multipanel saves time on installation
Another major consideration in choosing Multipanel was the relative speed of installation. The installation of the 31 bathrooms took a total of 4 weeks to complete, cutting the build time by the additional 2 weeks that tiling would have presented them with. Multipanel's alternative to tile solution has been found to be more durable and easier to clean.
